What this is
A river reading of 460 cubic feet per second means nothing on its own. The same number is a drought in April and a flood in September. That is why every reading here is placed against the same gauge's own record for the same calendar date.
The readings come from USGS gauges we verified sit on the named water rather than merely near it. In New York they are joined to DEC stocking records; everywhere else the record is the gauge and the forecast, and the page says so. Nothing here says whether fish are biting; it says what the water is doing and how unusual that is.
